Thailand National Games 2008 - Day 4
December 22, 2008 |
Day 4 of Thailand National Games 2008 featured the Men Bodybuilding Final.
60kg : Wicheon Chamjumlas from Jantaburi, defended his title with success against his friend from the same town, Phanorn Onnim, who came in second. Slightly unexpected was the bronze medalist winner Boonthan Yusuk who improved much since we last saw him.
65kg : Tuay from Buriram won the gold by beating off a challenge by bodybuilding veteran Jak from Pattani. With this win, Tuay's ambition to secure a place in the Thai National Team has improved greatly.
70kg : As we mentioned yesterday, this category was a tough one. In the end, the jury awarded Top from Pattani the gold as his incredible hard body won out over the more massive bodies of Chang, the runner-up from Korat, and Mekhin Aryuwattanamongkol from Lamphun, who came in third.
75kg : Contrary to our predictions, Khuntal Puangphet brought back another gold to Jantaburi. Khuntal is a great poser and his breakdancing-routine is a real crowd-pleaser. Second place went to Phonchai Pudsri, and the bronze was for Kittipong Jansawan, who we imagined at number two. Udomsak Kotsekhul eventually placed fourth.
80kg : Nueng from Bangkok was obviously disappointed with his silver medal. He looked amazing on stage and had a great individual routine, but his legs needed a bit more work. The gold went instead to Jetsada Peksantia from Udorntani. Jetsada did not look as hard as Nueng, but his overall shape is incredible.
85kg : The battle between Tong from Pattani and Pannapop Tiramongkolchai from Bangkok was very close. When the dust settled, Tong won out over Pannapop with just a 2 point difference. Tong himself said he was at "80%" as he is focussing on next year's international competitions.
90kg : Pichitpong Mangklad from Chiang Mai was the just winner, but for a picture of his true self, have a look at the Mr Thailand earlier this year. He, like the other competitors, were off-season and did little dieting as preparation.
