Internet sales fuel rise in South Wales steroid abuse
May 14, 2009 |
Internet sites selling steroids illegally are said to be the cause of the rise of abuse among teenage bodybuilders as young as 16 years old.
Buying it online can be very risky. Almost 40% of all steroids on the local market are fake.
Put that against the local percentage of steroid usage by bodybuilders from 53% in 2001 to 70% in 2006. And that percentage is probably still rising.
Online drug stores are trying to make a buck out of the popularity of bodybuilding by sometimes offering liquid injectable steroids mixed with baby oil or cooking oil. This could cause rash, spots or general reddening of the skin.
