Mr. Thailand Postponed
March 9, 2010 |
The political situation in Bangkok has resulted in a postponement of the 2010 Mr. Thailand, the TBBA has said.
Demonstrators from all over Thailand will flock to Bangkok this weekend to protest against the government. In return, the government is planning for extra security measures between March 11-23, such as imposing restrictions on freedom of movement, assembly and information. This, together with the designation of the Thai-Japan Gym, the Mr. Thailand venue, as a rallying point for the demonstrators, makes it impossible to hold the annual bodybuilding competition this Saturday and Sunday.
The TBBA hopes to set a new date of the Mr. Thailand sometime next week.
Update March 18, 2010: Due to a scheduling conflict at the Thai-Japan Youth Center, the 30th edition of the Mr. Thailand has been rescheduled again, now to take place at Central Rattanathibet (3rd floor) in Bangkok on April 3rd, 2010. [source: TBBA]
Update March 10, 2010: Pre-judging will start at 8am on Saturday, 27 March, followed by the finals at 1pm. The weigh-in moved up to Friday, 26 March at 2pm at Power Zone Gym.
